Tornabuoni Arte was founded in 1981 in Via Tornabuoni, Florence, thanks to Roberto Casamonti’s passion for art, an interest inherited from his father who was a collector of 20th century Italian art. Over the years the gallery – in addition to its head office in Lungarno Cellini in Florence – opened additional exhibition venues in Milan (1995), Forte dei Marmi (2004), Tornabuoni Arte Antica (2006), Rome (2023), as well as galleries abroad in Crans Montana (1993), Paris (2009), London (2015). The exhibition activity is developed in the different galleries by organizing an annual exhibition aiming at presenting a selection of works by the leading international artists from 20th century – such as Christo, Jean Dubuffet, Hans Hartung, Wifredo Lam, Matta, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Serge Poliakoff, Andy Warhol – together with pieces by the most important Post-War Italian artists like Giacomo Balla, Alighiero Boetti, Alberto Burri, Enrico Castellani, Mario Ceroli, Giorgio de Chirico, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, Marino Marini, Giorgio Morandi, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Paolo Scheggi among the others. Alongside the annual exhibition that takes place in the Italian galleries, Tornabuoni Arte is involved in organizing solo exhibitions focused on historical and emerging artists, as well as thematic exhibitions on the avant-garde of the Post-War period. Among the exhibition program featured over the years, the solo shows dedicated to artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Alberto Burri, Giacomo Capogrossi, Enrico Castellani, Mario Ceroli, Dadamaino, Lucio Fontana, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Paolo Scheggi have to be mentioned. Today the gallery continues his research and in-depth study in the scenario of 20th century art as well as looking for new contributions coming from contemporary artists such Pablo Atchugarry, Anne Karin Furunes, Omar Galliani, Mikayel Ohanjanyan, Francesca Pasquali and Gioacchino Pontrelli. The gallery participates every year in major contemporary art fairs such as FIAC in Paris, TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, Art Basel in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, Frieze Masters in London and Seoul, Arte Fiera in Bologna, Miart in Milan and Artgenève in Geneva. Tornabuoni Arte also works closely with museums and cultural institutions. Thanks to its experience and knowledge gained in the art market, the gallery has also established itself as an advisor for both public and private collections.
