The Società di Belle Arti has been a point of reference for the sale and purchase, evaluation, management and intermediation of Italian paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries since 1961. Founded by Giuliano Matteucci and currently managed by Francesco Palminteri, it has achieved a major role as a point of contact for some of the most important museums, bank foundations and private collectors, thus contributing to enriching their collections with important works of art. This was made possible by sound and trusted relations with the heirs of notable historic collections, in addition to numerous contacts cultivated in the course of a long and well-established career. Along with an all-encompassing competence and high esteem, this condition is a valuable asset that needs to be nurtured and increased: we are fully aware of that and the Società di Belle Arti aims at identifying with old-time "connoisseur" art dealers. Delacroix maintained that this equals to admitting that “the first virtue of a painting is to be a feast for the eyes”: if this is true, then the Società di Belle Arti fully reflects this model. Its main purpose is, in fact, that of favouring the quality of an artwork, as opposed to the name of its author, a principle it intends to follow for a long time.
