Paolo and Romana Zauli founded the "Art Gallery of Caminetto" in 1966, as a solidarity act towards flooded Florentine antiquarians. They kicked off exhibition activities with the show "Old Master Drawings", held at Palazzo Salina Brazzetti, mainly displaying Bolognese artists. In addition to having brought Old Master paintings and drawings to light, the core of the "Caminetto" gallery lies in having revealed other components of Italian art, among which the stunning heritage of plastic arts, chiefly terracotta. On this subject, we should mention two exhibitions showcasing unpublished objects by Giuseppe Maria Mazza, Angelo Gabriello Piò, Ercole Lelli and Filippo Scandellari. The interpretations of Pelagio Pelagi, Felice Giani, Alessandro Guardassoni are also worthy of notice. Maria, the daughter of Paulo and Romana, followed in from her parents at the two Bologna locations for more than thirty years, with equal success. Giovanni Banzi, nephew of the founders, took over in 2018, thus continuing the family tradition.
